CluelessAI reads part of your screen when you ask it to. That is the whole product, so it is worth being exact about what leaves your machine and what happens to it.
What CluelessAI captures
Only the region you draw, only when you draw it. There is no background capture, no always-on recording, and no capture when the app is idle. Pressing the hotkey arms a selection; nothing is captured until you complete one.
Where that image goes
- Our server — the image is uploaded so it can be read and answered. It is held for the length of that one request and is not stored afterwards.
- Google Cloud Vision — to find the text in the image.
- OpenAI — to produce the answer. Their API terms apply to that request.
The screenshot itself is not written to a database or a storage bucket.
What is stored
- Your account — email address, and a sign-in identifier from Google if you use Google sign-in. Handled by Firebase Authentication.
- Your solves — the question text and the answer, so you can look back at them. Kept until your account is deleted.
- Your libraries — on Pro and Max, the files you add to a library, with their names, sizes and the library’s name. Each file goes through our server to OpenAI, which keeps it so answers can search it and quote the passage they used. Deleting a file or a library removes it from OpenAI as well. Only add files you have the right to use.
- Usage counts — how many solves you have used, to enforce the plan limit.
- Devices — a name and identifier per machine you sign in on, to enforce the device limit, plus the app version, operating system and version, and a few of your app preferences (such as theme, pointer and typing behaviour, quiet mode, and whether you changed the default hotkeys — never the keys themselves, your library names, or anything you capture), so we know which versions need updating and which settings people use.
- Nothing about payment — no card, no billing address, no charge history. Billing is not open, so there is nowhere to enter a card and nothing to store.
What is not done
Your solves are not published, shared with other users, sold, or used to advertise to you. There is no third-party analytics or tracking script in the desktop app.
Where it is kept
On Google Cloud, in the United States. CluelessAI is operated from Ontario, Canada, so your data crosses a border to be processed.
Your choices
Ask for your account and everything attached to it to be deleted by emailing cluelessai.ca@gmail.com, and it will be. You can also ask for a copy of what is held about you. Deleting a single solve from inside the app is not possible yet.
Children
CluelessAI is not intended for anyone under 13, and accounts are not knowingly created for them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or where it goes, the date above changes and the app will say so on next launch.
